Our Story
Calypso Cards is a contemporary greeting card publisher and distributor rooted in good design, thoughtful words, and meaningful connection.
We collaborate with independent artists and publishing partners across the U.S., U.K., and Europe to produce cards that reflect real life — the humor, the tenderness, the everyday moments worth acknowledging.
While we work with large national retailers, the heart of our business remains with independent and local shops. We believe great retail is personal, expressive, and deeply human — just like the cards we make.

What We Believe
Rooted in Newport.
Calypso Cards is based in Newport, Rhode Island — a place defined by light, history, and a slower, more intentional pace. That sense of calm and consideration shapes how we approach design, storytelling, and the way we work with our partners.
Newport’s blend of old and new, tradition and creativity, mirrors our own point of view: thoughtful without feeling precious, expressive without excess. It’s a place that encourages noticing the details — something we believe good cards should always do.
Sustainability & Local Production
Our in-house brands are proudly printed in the United States, in partnership with a New England-based printer powered by renewable energy. By producing domestically, we reduce transportation impact while maintaining close oversight of quality and craftsmanship.
We print using soy-based inks, a more environmentally responsible alternative to petroleum-based inks, helping to reduce emissions and improve recyclability. Our paper stocks are FSC®-certified, sourced from responsibly managed forests that support environmental balance and long-term sustainability.
From materials to manufacturing, we make considered choices at every stage of production — prioritizing quality, transparency, and a lighter footprint wherever possible.
We believe sustainability is not a single initiative, but an ongoing commitment to better processes, stronger partnerships, and thoughtful progress.

Since our founding, Calypso has championed independent artists and illustrators. We believe that great greeting cards begin with great artwork, and we’re passionate about discovering new creative talent.
Many of the artists we work with today began by simply sharing their portfolios with us. As we continue to grow, finding and developing new artistic voices remains one of our most important priorities.
